Third Space™

The places we return to shape the people we become.

The places, people, and experiences that help us become more available to ourselves and one another.

A growing network of environments creating conditions for human flourishing.

What we mean by a Third Space.

You may know “third place” from sociology — the café or barbershop that is neither home nor work. We are borrowing the intuition and asking more of it.

A Third Space™ is not simply somewhere other than home or work. It is an environment we can say something specific about: what it tends to support in the people who go there. Nourishment. Reflection. Regulation. Connection. Curiosity.

That is the distinction the rest of this page rests on. A third place is a category of location. A Third Space is a set of conditions — which is why this network is organised by what people need rather than by what kind of business it is.

Why Third Space™ exists

Human flourishing doesn’t happen only inside an app.

  • It happens in conversation.
  • Around dinner tables.
  • In yoga studios.
  • During walks. Inside bookstores.
  • In cafés. At community gatherings.
  • In parks. Over tea.

An app can help you notice what is happening to you. It cannot be the room you walk into afterwards. MoreLife exists to help people discover, understand, and return to the environments that support them — and Third Space is where that stops being a private observation and becomes somewhere to go.

Four women gathered around a small wooden café table, laughing and mid-conversation, with mugs, a journal, and a vase of flowers between them and plants and a sunlit street visible through the windows behind

The missing layer

Knowing what you need is not the same as knowing where to go.

  1. Mind
  2. Knowledge
  3. Intention
  4. Supportive Conditions
  5. Human Flourishing

Most of what is offered to a person in difficulty addresses the first three steps. Understand yourself better. Learn the framework. Decide to change.

Many people know what they are experiencing. Far fewer know where to go, who to be with, or what environments may support what they are experiencing. The step between intention and flourishing is environmental, and it is almost never provided.

Third Space exists to bridge that gap.

Who is Third Space™ for?

Created with and for the stewards of human flourishing.

It takes a village — and intentional environments — for people to truly flourish.

  • A host standing at the head of a table, mid-sentence and smiling, addressing six people seated around it with open journals, tea bowls, and a plant-filled window behind her — a handwritten sign on the wall reads “Honor our timing. Trust the process. Rooted in community.”

    I create experiences.

Share your gatherings, classes, workshops, and conversations with a community looking for supportive rooms to show up in.

  • A bright juice and wellness bar in morning light — someone behind the counter handing a green juice to a customer, fresh produce and plants along the counter, another person working at a table by the window

    I steward a place.

Join the network of places that intentionally support human flourishing in St. Louis and beyond.

  • A university courtyard in afternoon light — students walking toward a stone building, two people working at an outdoor table, and a sandwich-board sign in the foreground reading “Third Space is where we make room for what matters”

    I represent an organization.

Bring Third Space to your workplace, university, neighborhood, hotel, or community.

How it works

A simple rhythm. A deeper impact.

  1. 1NoticeSomething feels less available than usual.
  2. 2DiscoverFind environments near you that tend to support it.
  3. 3ParticipateGo. Stay as long as you like. Nothing is asked of you.
  4. 4ReflectAfterwards, note what the room did — or didn't do.
  5. 5RememberWhat supported you is kept, not lost by next month.
  6. 6ReturnGo back to the conditions that help, deliberately.

The discovery problem

Some places shouldn’t require an algorithm to find.

The places that support us are not always the places with the largest audiences, the most reviews, or the strongest online presence.

And the people looking for those environments shouldn’t have to wait for the right post to reach them.

Third Space creates another path.

A place can be recognized for the conditions it creates.

A person can discover it because those conditions are what they’re looking for.

Not because an algorithm decided they should meet.

The Third Space™ network

Organised by what a place supports, not what it sells.

A directory sorts by category — restaurants, gyms, bars. That is useful when you already know what you want. It is useless when what you know is that something feels off. So the network is indexed the other way round: by the conditions a place tends to offer the people who go there.

St. Louis pilot — more cities forming

The first places are being confirmed now.

We list a place once its stewards have agreed to be part of the network and have told us what it actually supports — not before. The map appears here as that becomes true.
